Taking Care of Our
Communities
At CalSAWS, we come together for the good of our communities.
We join in through team volunteering events, annual charity drives, and donations.
Every hour and dollar spent goes directly to the organizations and people they serve.
We are proud to help others.
It is more than our job. It is our purpose.
Completed Giving Events

River City Food Bank (Northern CA)
The River City Food Bank helps people avoid crisis and work toward self-reliance by providing short-term food supply when they are unable to meet basic living expenses. During November, the CalSAWS team collected food items. We are so proud of how we came together to not just fill one donation barrel but an extra table full of food for those in need. It took two car loads and seven wagon trips to take it all in. Thank you to all who donated!

Deloitte was a race sponsor, and several of our CalSAWS team members joined for the cause.

Current Giving Events
Wish Star (Sacramento)
December 1 - 10, 2025
The opportunity to make a child’s wish come true can be very rewarding. Whether you can provide one gift for a child or gifts for many children, your support is welcomed.
You can give by participating in the Sacramento Children’s Wish Star program where you will provide a holiday present(s) that a specific child has requested.
Paper ornaments to represent different types of gifts can be found on the Christmas Tree in the Consortium PMO area.

Gift options are as follows:
-
Wish Star – to fulfill gift wishes for a specific child served by Sacramento Children’s Home programs
-
Gift Card – to purchase gifts for unfulfilled wishes or provide other holiday essentials for the families served by Sacramento Children’s Home.
ALL STAFF CAN PARTICIPATE
Individuals can participate by picking an ornament off the Giving Tree. Select your tag and notify the Community Ambassador team of which tag you selected (Gender/Age/ID#).
Gifts must be received no later than December 10th.

Please include the unwrapped gift(s) in one sturdy gift bag and affix the Wish Star securely to the outside of the bag. You can purchase one or more of the items listed on the selected star. It is important to keep gifts for each child together along with the matching star.

Gifts should be dropped off in the Consortium PMO area.
Gift cards should be given to Lenecia Miles or Girish Uppal for safe keeping.
If you are remote and would like to participate, please complete the contact form. The Community Ambassador team will help you select a star remotely from the tree. Gifts can then be mailed to the project via your selected retailer.

Evergreen Givers
Evergreen giving is about giving consistently throughout the year to keep support flowing. It helps organizations plan and sustain their ability to support the community. Once you get inspired, there are ways to keep giving back on your own or with friends. Here are some ideas:
-
Small Monthly Donations - You can set up autopay to give $5, $10, $20, or more monthly to charitable organizations of your choice.
-
Pick Times Weekly or Monthly to Volunteer - Scheduling times in advance can make it part of your regular routine instead of a good idea that might be scheduled over by other events.
-
Grocery Store Giving - Many stores offer the option to add money to donate towards a cause or the purchase of a bag of groceries. Giving regularly keeps the giving flowing to those in need.
